YOGA FOR MENTAL WELLBEING
Most of us understand that we feel better when we move our bodies, feel seen and heard by those we love and trust, and have agency over our own lives. Yet, many still struggle and many of us suffer in silence. Psychosocial factors and determinants of health include social resources and social integration, psychological resources (self-esteem and trust), and psychological risk factors (cynicism, exhaustion, and hopelessness). Stigma, lack of understanding potential viable options, and feeling powerless can keep us in depressive cycles - or worse, at risk for suicide. We believe in the power of creating a new kind of conversation around what it means to be human, how we can better understand and support one another, and create a world of connection and belonging - even if it’s simply one yoga class at a time.

According to Harvard Medical School, yoga can affect mood by elevating levels of a brain chemical called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which is associated with better mood and decreased anxiety.

Meditation also reduces activity in the limbic system - the part of the brain dedicated to emotions. As your emotional reactivity diminishes, you have a more tempered response when faced with stressful situations.
YOGA FOR YOUTH
BBYC knows that in order to create a new kind of world, we have to begin with our children. Teaching our youth healthy stress management skills may be key in preventing teen suicide and that is exactly what we are here to do.
Many, many recent studies have shown that youth with higher rates of self and social awareness are more likely to have positive long term outcomes, something that yoga has been supporting practitioners with for thousands of years. We take an ancient and proven practice and make it relevant to the post-digital age. Decrease bullying, drive school attendance and student engagement rates, and generate higher levels of self-esteem and overall resilience - let your students learn yoga. Here are some ways that we may work together:
-
Sponsor a Youth Membership at BBYC Studio
-
Bring BBYC to your School - The Yoga & Meditation Club
-
Let us lead your Professional Development Day - We can support your staff by teaching them trauma-informed yoga to implement mindfulness techniques in their classrooms.
-
Student Peer Leadership Programs

Suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people age 15 to 24 in the U.S. Nearly 20% of high school students report serious thoughts of suicide and 9% have made an attempt to take their lives, according to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

The BBYC Outreach Program is designed to provide our children, youth, and young adult tools needed to support their mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing.
MINDFULNESS IN
THE WORKPLACE
Our organization was founded by a physician that understands the complexities of a fast paced work environment where much is at stake. The BBYC Team offers an array of fractional classes, workshops, and programs for you and your staff. With the goal of warding off occupational burnout, we will work together as your company’s Wellness Partner. Bring us in once a week for a standing yoga and meditation class, let us lead your quarterly offsite retreat, give your staff membership to our brick-and-mortar and/or virtual studio, or customize your own programming for a tax-deductible donation. These practices give your employees the ability to restore themselves from workplace-hardship, build the resilience needed to manage change, and fosters an elevated interoffice culture.
Please note that a large part of our mission is to better serve medical professionals and our first responders in crisis. We believe in the power of doing this work in medical offices and hospitals. Consider taking great care of those who provide you with great care when you need it most.

BBYC brings mindfulness programming directly to you and your workplace, providing tools that allow for increased team communication and personal restorative practices that, when used, decrease overall stress and anxiety.
